A 47-year-old Newberry Springs, Calif., woman reported to Lawrence police March 12 that someone had stolen a purse and wallet, including $4,600 in cash and some credit cards from a 71-year-old Newberry Springs woman at the Howard Johnson hotel, 2222 W. Sixth St. The theft occurred between 10:25 p.m. and 10:41 p.m.
