‘Inquiry’ shuts down post office in Liebenthal
Liebenthal ? The post office in a small west-central Kansas town is closed but the postal service isn’t saying why.
The U.S. Postal Service says its inspection services division is conducting an inquiry into operations at the Liebenthal Post Office. Residents have been told to pick up their mail in La Crosse, about 8 miles away.
The Hays Daily News reported Wednesday that Postal Service spokesman Brian Sperry said there was an “emergency suspension” of the facility, which is operated by a contractor.
Residents in the Rush County town of about 100 people say they’ve been given little information about the closing. They say workers at the La Crosse Post Office have told them they know nothing about the closing.
