Leavenworth About 250 people rallied at Fort Leavenworth to support an Army private accused of leaking classified military information to the WikiLeaks website.
The Army says Pfc. Bradley Manning leaked hundreds of thousands of classified documents while serving as an intelligence specialist in Iraq. He’s being held at Fort Leavenworth.
Those at Saturday’s rally say Manning should be released. The Kansas City Star reports that Manning’s supporters say they have raised $150,000 for his defense and are planning rallies and an Internet campaign on his behalf.
Jeff Paterson, project director for a group that helps military personnel, says if Manning is guilty, he revealed information that should be public.
Critics say the WikiLeaks release broke U.S. law and could endanger lives.
