Suspect in Great Bend girl’s death to get new hearing

? The suspect in last year’s killing of a central Kansas girl will get a new preliminary hearing as prosecutors amend the charges against him.

Adam Longoria was in a Barton County courtroom Thursday for a hearing on motions in the capital murder case accusing him of killing 14-year-old Alicia DeBolt. The Great Bend girl’s burned body was found in August at an asphalt plant where Longoria worked.

Prosecutors are seeking to drop a charge of criminal sodomy and add charges of attempted rape and criminal solicitation of a minor.

The defense argued prosecutors must show probable cause to amend the charges. The judge agreed and scheduled the new preliminary hearing for Oct. 5.

The judge also denied defense motions seeking to bar evidence from Longoria’s home and cellphone.
