A Lawrence police officer July 13 discovered a 2008 Kia Rio that had been reported stolen June 30 from Topeka in the parking lot of the Howard Johnson hotel, 2222 W. Sixth St. Sarna said while officers were checking to see who the vehicle was registered to, a 24-year-old Lawrence woman and 34-year-old Lawrence man got into the car. An officer stopped the vehicle in the parking lot. Both suspects were identified, but no one was arrested pending further investigation, Sarna said.
