A 61-year-old Lawrence man was taken to a Topeka hospital Monday morning after a motorcycle-semitrailer accident on U.S. Highway 40 west of Lawrence.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Clinton C. Marker Jr. was headed west in his 2010 Honda motorcycle and attempted to pass the semitrailer in a no passing zone and struck the truck’s trailer. Thomas M. Clark, 28, of Lecompton, was the truck’s driver and was not injured.

Marker was taken by ambulance to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. The accident occurred at 7:10 a.m. about 1 mile east of the Shawnee County line.

Wow, lucky if they weren't life-threatening. Semi vs motorcycle, that can't be good.

I hope he recovers in a timely manner. It is incredible to hear about any one who survives a motorcycle accident, especially on a highway. Having that said, he obviously isn't that smart/safe of a motor cycle rider. Kansas should institute some law that suspends your motor cycle license after you seriously endanger your life, or others. Circumstances pending, of course.
