Tre Parmalee, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound receiver out of Bishop Miege High School in Overland Park, orally committed to the Kansas football team on Wednesday night.

Parmalee is the first commitment for new KU coach Charlie Weis. Parmalee picked KU after de-committing from Northern Illinois.

"I really liked Northern Illinois and all of their coaches," Parmalee told JayhawkSlant.com. "But Kansas is close to home and I have always wanted to play for coach Weis. I want to be a part of rebuilding the program."

Parmalee's father, Bernie, is the current tight ends coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Bernie played running back in the NFL from 1992-2000 for both the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.

In addition, Tre Parmalee will reunite at KU with Tim Grunhard, who was his high school football coach at Bishop Miege.

Grunhard will coach the offensive line for KU next season.

I hope all these Catholic boys are as tough as their reputation.

You suppose being Catholic has anything to do with that?

Your comment smacks of prejudice and a phobia for religon,.

Am I wrong?

How do you manage to carry that tree trunk on your shoulder?

And people can have good reasons for religious phobias, but I doubt this qualifies.

My mother was raised Catholic, if that answers your question. Your comment smacks of a paranoid Catholic who believed in the nonsense currently being spewed by some Catholics that there is a anit-Catholic bias in this country.
