Outgoing Kansas governor appoints transition leaders

? Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson has a three-member team to help Gov.-elect Sam Brownback with the transition to power.

Parkinson on Wednesday named Lt. Gov. Troy Findley and Chief of Staff Rae Anne Davis to the team. He also appointed J. Russell Jennings, who’d been commissioner of the Juvenile Justice Authority.

The outgoing governor had expected former Health and Environment Secretary Rod Bremby to be on the team instead of Jennings. But Bremby declined the job Tuesday and stepped down as secretary.

Brownback, a Republican and a U.S. senator, handily defeated Democrat and state Sen. Tom Holland in Tuesday’s election.

At the Juvenile Justice Authority, Dennis Casarona, the deputy commissioner will serve as acting commissioner.
