Oskaloosa residents released from hospital after weekend accident

Two Oskaloosa residents were released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital over the weekend after a rollover accident Friday evening north of Lawrence on U.S. Highway 24-59, hospital spokeswoman Belinda Rehmer said. Brent Cobb, 46, and Johanna Cobb, 46, were injured after their 1997 Oldsmobile car was struck at 6 p.m. Friday by a northbound 2007 Kia, driven by Kathleen Ames-Oliver, 52, of Lawrence, said Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman. The Oldsmobile rolled over, and authorities had to extricate Johanna Cobb from the vehicle. Lewis said Ames-Oliver was attempting to turn left onto North 1900 Road — 1 mile north of Tee Pee Junction — in front of the southbound Oldsmobile. Ames-Oliver, who was not taken to the hospital, was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic while making a left turn, Lewis said.
