Wichita ? A Wichita girl who was critically injured when she crashed a golf cart earlier this week has died.

Officials at Wesley Medical Center say 14-year-old Regan Wheeler died Friday morning.

The teen was injured Wednesday evening when she drove a golf cart into a barbed-wire fence on private property in neighboring Butler County. Authorities said she lost control while trying to turn the cart around on a slope.

Two other teens who were riding on the cart were unable to free the girl from the barbed wire.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy says he doesn’t expect any charges to be filed, calling it a “sad, tragic accident.”
