How to Help: Support needed for fundraiser races

Health Care Access Clinic is in need of volunteers to help with the upcoming Lynn Electric Kansas Marathon presented by Hy-Vee. This event, the clinic’s largest annual fundraiser, will be Sunday, April 18, and will feature a full marathon, half marathon and 5K race, as well as a free half-mile Fun Run/Walk. All races start and finish at KU’s Shenk Sports Complex at 23rd & Iowa streets. Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions on race day in addition to some pre-race projects.

Immediate needs

• The Lawrence Art Guild Association needs volunteers to staff its 1109 Gallery. Volunteer would greet visitors, write up sales tickets and document sales. Full training will be provided, and there will always be two volunteers working together. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. • Brandon Woods at Alvamar is looking for one volunteer to assist an elderly woman with her laundry once a week for about an hour. If interested, contact Susie Jach at 838-8000, ext. 22224, or by e-mail at sjach@5squc.com.

• Kansas Lyme Fighters Inc. is a year-old organization in the capacity building phase for its second year. The group is looking for volunteers to create a new public relations program, help develop a volunteer program and visit by phone with those suffering from the ailments of Lyme disease.
