A 12-year-old Lawrence boy received minor injuries after being hit by a car while riding his bike about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, police confirmed Friday.
Sgt. Bill Cory, police spokesman, said the boy was crossing in the crosswalk at Sixth and Maine Streets, when a 51-year-old Lawrence driver “pulled out and struck” the boy.
Police said the driver, identified as George Reynolds, was trying to turn right onto westbound Sixth Street at the time of the crash.
The boy, Jake Delatorre, was transported to the hospital with “very minor injuries,” Cory said. Lawrence Memorial Hospital said the boy was treated and released.
Cory did not have information about whether Reynolds was cited.
