Worker dies in fall at western Kansas grain elevator

? An employee has died in an accident at a western Kansas grain elevator.

Wallace County Sheriff Larry Townshend said the 21-year-old man fell about 50 feet into a bin at United Plains Ag Co-op in Weskan, a small town on the Colorado border.

Townshend told KAKE-TV the man accidentally stepped into a hole at the top of the elevator that’s used to fill the bins. The bin into which he fell was half full of grain at the time.

The sheriff identified the employee as Brett Spresser of Sharon Springs. The accident happened Tuesday shortly after 9:30 a.m. Central time.
