A 22-year-old Lawrence man was arrested early Saturday morning for aggravated battery in the 2500 block of West Sixth Street.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, a 24-year-old Lawrence man was sitting outside the Cadillac Ranch with a friend when the suspect approached him and asked if he had a problem. When the victim explained he didn’t, the suspect left but then returned and punched the victim in the face.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a facial laceration, treated and released. The suspect was later located and arrested.

The attacker is probably mental. Could have referred to something that happened early at The Ranch and it just festered. The guy left, thought it over, and came back to settle business. I saw the same thing happen at the library where someone was just standing just to the left of the information desk, doing nothing, when someone came up from behind him and gave him a solid punch to the jaw. It just came out of nowhere. Reports said that they did not know each other and had never spoken one word to each other. The poor guy was just trying to get information about his car. The guy told the police that he punched the other guy just because he felt like punching someone and he was the one who happened to be there.

Batman came out of the mancave and handled the weasel without a punch. I would have preferred to see the taser effect from not your average joe.

Children+alcohol=trouble, every time. When will you idiots learn? Serving alcohol to anyone under 25 is asking for problems, or , to law enforcement, revenue, which must be the reason why its still happening.

How come the article refers to the name of the business BUT when some police calls are made to the Drop IN Center, the paper only refers to a block on West 10th and the same for other similar situations around town.

Is this an attempt to give the Cadillac Ranch a bad name or The Ranch or whatever the place is.

skinny, the J/W is to busy badmouthing the Chancellor and praising the Chamber of Commerce and Endowment Association..

Where is this "Cadillac Ranch"? Hey "skinny" do the other papers get the name of the place right? Note to LJW the Cadillac has left the ranch. The sign reads "The Ranch"

whatadrag, The LJWorld will not print the local news, pretty pathetic if you ask me. You can read any other paper in the state of Kansas and see the names of those arrested, involved in traffic accidents, and issued notices to appear. They also listthe name of those convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol as a deterrent. NOT the LJWorld.

Having lived in Lawrence for the last 25 years I only subscribed to the LJWorld for about two months then decided I could read the Topeka Capital and get more information on what’s going on locally then reading the LJWorld. Most of my neighbors do the same.

Someday maybe the LJWorld will wake up and pay attention to their circulation numbers and think, what are we doing wrong!!

Next time..... duck. Top of the head is the hardest part of the body and the puncher probably would have broken his hand.

---problem is, we all "have a problem." if the punchee had only answered correctly, this little dustup could have been avoided.

of course, "a problem" is in the eye of the one with the problem, and not in the eye of the beholder.

for that matter how do we know we have a problem?
"I think I have a problem, therefore I am."
