Author to share from ‘Day After’ book

Lawrence native Steven Church will present a reading and signing of his latest book, “The Day After The Day After: My Atomic Angst,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

In the book, Church muses on the many things that frightened him as a child, from John Brown to flying monkeys and Three Mile Island to nuclear apocalypse. The latter scenario was the subject of the 1983 made-for-TV movie “The Day After,” filmed in Lawrence during the summer before Church entered sixth grade. The event is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by The Raven Book Store, 6 E. Seventh St., which will make books available for purchase.

Steven Church also is the author of “The Guinness Book of Me” and “Theoretical Killings.”
