• Sarah Rooney, VNA Hospice volunteer coordinator and massage therapist, has completed the course “Massage for People Living with Cancer” presented by Gayle MacDonald, MS, LMT. Rooney has been a practicing massage therapist for eight years and has worked with hospice patients for nearly two years for Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice.

• Lori McSorley has joined VNA as a new community liaison. McSorley will be a resource for clinicians and community members regarding home health, rehabilitation, hospice care, private duty services and the VNA Care Cottage.

• On May 17, Prairie Paws Animal Shelter Inc., formerly named Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter Inc., moved into a new 14,000 square-foot facility at 3173 Kansas Highway 68 in Ottawa, east of the Cottonwood Animal Hospital. The shelter will remain a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit shelter, operating under the same beliefs established by founder Bea Martin Peck.

• Tug McTighe, vice president and creative director at Callahan Creek, spoke June 6-9 at the HOW Design Conference in Denver. The presentation was titled “Jedi Copywriter, or Everything I Needed to Know About Advertising I Learned From Star Wars.”
