Rob Lowe leaving ‘Brothers & Sisters

New York — Rob Lowe wants to downsize his TV family.

The actor will leave ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” at the end of the season, his publicist, Nicole Perez-Krueger, said Friday.

Lowe plays Sen. Robert McCallister, who is married to Calista Flockhart’s character, Kitty. He has appeared on the drama for four seasons.

Perez-Krueger said Lowe is in talks with ABC for his own show.

This isn’t the first time Lowe has left a role where he’s part of an ensemble. He exited NBC’s “The West Wing” in 2003 to star in “The Lyon’s Den.” The show was canceled after six episodes aired.

Bristol Palin files for child support

Anchorage, Alaska — Sarah Palin’s oldest daughter, Bristol, is seeking child support from the young man who fathered her 1-year-old son.

Documents filed Thursday in Superior Court in Palmer shows Bristol Palin is seeking $1,750 a month from 19-year-old Levi Johnston, her former fiance. Their son, Tripp, was born in December 2008.

Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein said Alaska law makes clear that a parent of a child is obligated to provide support.

“It is unfortunate Bristol has to seek court intervention in this regard,” Van Flein said.

The details regarding child support come at the same time Bristol is seeking full custody of the baby. She filed a petition for sole custody in early November.

Johnston, at the very least, wants joint custody, said Rex Butler, Johnston’s lawyer.

The motion for child support says Bristol, 19, is providing nearly 100 percent of Tripp’s care and that Johnston has paid only $4,400 in more than a year. Palin’s oldest daughter also is seeking back child support of $18,350. The amount is based on an estimate of Johnston’s income last year.

Judge: Polanski must be sentenced in U.S.

Los Angeles — A judge ruled Friday that Roman Polanski must return to the U.S. to be sentenced in a decades-old sex case.

Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza said he ruled “in defense of the integrity of the justice system, he needs to surrender.”

His ruling is likely to be appealed.

Attorneys for the 76-year-old director have argued their client should be sentenced in absentia to time already served after pleading guilty in 1978 to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.

Prosecutors insist Polanski must appear in a Los Angeles courtroom and not be permitted to manipulate the justice system.

Polanski, arrested on a U.S. warrant, spent more than 60 days in a Swiss jail before being transferred to house arrest in his Swiss vacation home Dec. 4.

Leno featured comic at White House dinner

Washington — Late-night comic Jay Leno is the featured entertainer at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington.

WHCA President Ed Chen said the black-tie, nationally televised dinner to feature Leno — in the news lately for an ugly dispute with Conan O’Brien over NBC’s late-night lineup — is being held this year on May 1.

The dinner is traditionally attended every year by the president, who delivers a comic keynote that rivals — and sometimes surpasses — the hired entertainment.

The dinner attracts about 3,000 Washington elite and press as well as celebrities.
