Hutchinson woman pleads no contest in boyfriend’s death

? A Hutchinson woman pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the 2007 stabbing death of her boyfriend.

Forty-five-year-old Valerie Gonzalez was scheduled to go on trial for first-degree murder on Monday. Prosecutors say she stabbed 67-year-old Eugene Lewis to death with a screwdriver in January 2007.

The Hutchinson News reports that Gonzalez entered her plea Tuesday to second-degree murder. She will be sentenced Jan. 28. Prosecutors say they will recommend a 10-year prison sentence.

Lewis’ body was found Jan. 4, 2007, near a used car lot in Hutchinson.
