Man gets max sentence in daughter’s scalding
Hutchinson ? A 32-year-old Hutchinson man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for the scalding of his 2-year-old daughter in a bathtub.
Charles Kendall got the maximum sentence Friday for aggravated battery and felony obstruction. As part of the deal, Kendall waived his right to appeal and agreed not to request probation in exchange for prosecutors not seeking a doubled sentence.
Kendall was convicted by a Reno County jury last month.
The Hutchinson News reports that Kendall and nine others who spoke on his behalf at sentencing said his girlfriend was at home when his daughter was burned, but he wasn’t.
Reno County District Judge Richard Rome said he would never forget the girl’s picture at the hospital or the look on her face.
