Topeka school bus crash sends eight children, three adults to hospital

Emergency crews investigate the scene of a school bus accident at 28th and Colorado in Topeka. Eight children and four adults were taken to the hospital after the accident Wednesday morning.
Several children and adults were taken to the hospital after an accident involving a school bus and a car in Topeka Wednesday morning.
KTKA.com reports that eight children and three adults were taken to the hospital.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the southeast part of the city when a car went through a stoplight and hit the school bus. The bus was headed to Ross Elementary when the accident happened at 28th and Colorado.
Police officer Aaron Bulmer Bulmer told The Topeka Capital-Journal that the bus was hit near one of the wheels, forcing it into a tree in the front lawn of a home.
Topeka police department spokeswoman Kristen Veverka Says none of the injuries are considered to be life threatening.
Veverka says she doesn’t know what caused the accident.
