Nov. trial date set in sex crime case

A 29-year-old Lawrence man faces a November trial on multiple child sex crime charges.

During a Wednesday court appearance, the man pleaded not guilty to the five charges. He also waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors in June charged him with two counts of child rape, one count of aggravated criminal sodomy, one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of sexual exploitation of a child. Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred with a 6-year-old girl whom he knew.

Douglas County District Judge Michael Malone on Wednesday set the man’s trial to begin Nov. 8.

The Journal-World generally does not name sex crime suspects unless they have been convicted.
