Photographers are encouraged to enter the second-annual River to Well photography competition, which will be Oct. 2 at Signs of Life, 722 Mass.
Anyone can submit entries to this competition, which has three divisions: students, amateur nonstudents and professional photographers. The entry categories are people, places, cultural traces, flora/fauna, black and white and monochromatic.
Photographers are encouraged to submit their entries by Sept. 1. The entry fee to submit a photo is $15, two photos for $25 or three photos for $30. All of the money from the entry fees will go to building a well in Kwa-Dick, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
In 2009, the River to Well inaugural photo competition brought the first well to the village of Ndhambi, South Africa. More than 270 entries were accepted from eight different countries, and more than $5,000 was raised.
