Schools foundation fundraiser hits $30,000 goal

Organizers say Friday’s Foundation Follies event for the Lawrence school district met the $30,000 goal.

Susan Esau, executive director for the Lawrence Schools Foundation, said about 480 people attended the 20th annual event at Liberty Hall.

Proceeds were slightly off the pace from 2009, Esau said, but the event still raised $30,000.

More than 150 Lawrence teachers, administrators and district employees performed on stage.

Proceeds from the annual event support the foundation’s efforts, and a portion of the Follies funds goes to teacher innovation and funds for excellence grants to be used in schools.
