A Lawrence man was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison for his role in an August robbery.

Franz C. Stangl, 26, was convicted of robbery, aggravated burglary, intimidation of a victim and criminal damage to property.

Prosecutors said Stangl and an accomplice kicked in the door of an apartment in the 900 block of Louisiana Street on Aug. 7.

Once inside, they held a gun to the victim’s head, made demands and then punched, kicked and stomped on the victim’s head.

Police arrested Stangl at gunpoint as he was caught running from the scene.

A jury convicted him of the crimes in March.

When released from prison, Stangl will be required to register as a violent offender for 10 years because the crime was committed with a firearm.
