St. Louis ? A federal judge has ruled that a Ku Klux Klan splinter group cannot be barred from holding an event today at a Missouri historic site — a site where one of the state’s biggest Civil War battles took place.

The ruling was Wednesday. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Frank Ancona filed suit seeking an emergency order to overrule rejection of the KKK application to rent a pavilion at the Fort Davidson Historic Site.

Ancona identifies himself as imperial wizard of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The historic site is in Iron County, about 70 miles south of St. Louis.

U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel required the group to post a $1,800 bond and acquire liability insurance. Ancona says the event may be cancelled if the group can’t acquire the insurance by today.
