Mo. Supreme Court declines light-rail case

? The Missouri Supreme Court has declined to consider Clay Chastain’s lawsuit against the Kansas City Council for repealing a light-rail initiative.

Chastain appealed to the Supreme Court after the Missouri Court of Appeals in May said the city council had the authority to repeal a Chastain light-rail plan that voters had approved in 2006.

Supreme Court spokeswoman Beth Riggert said Thursday that the state’s high court had denied transfer of Chastain’s appeal.

After voters approved the plan, the city council said it was unworkable and did not include a viable funding mechanism.

The appeals court ruled the council acted properly under the city charter.
