Police arrested a 20-year-old Lawrence man Friday evening on multiple charges after an incident that ended in several gunshots being fired.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren said two groups of people got into an altercation in the 600 block of Wild Plum Court. As one of the parties left the scene, a person in the other group fired a gun either into the air or the ground.

Warren said the shots were not fired in the direction of a person and that no one was injured in the incident. The altercation occurred on an undeveloped plot of land in northwest Lawrence near the intersection of Kasold Drive and Peterson Road.

The man was arrested at 9:01 p.m. in the 1300 block of New Jersey on charges of aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal discharge of a firearm and possession of stolen property.

if he was arrested at 9:01 in a diffrent area, when were the shots fired? Just curious since it seems like it was pretty early.

smitty, how do you know the man is a resident of West Lawrence? The story doesn't mention his name or his place of residence.
