Halloween party help needed

The Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., needs eight volunteers this Friday for its Halloween event for young children. The event will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and volunteers are needed to help with setup and cleanup, as well as to pass out candy and help run games. Volunteers are asked to wear animal-themed costumes. If you are interested, contact Tasha at tschultz@ ci.lawrence.ks.us.

Immediate needs

• Meals on Wheels has a great need for volunteers to serve as drivers for fall and winter. Volunteers will deliver approximately seven meals on a route to senior citizens living throughout the Lawrence area. If you can help, contact Kim Culliss at 830-8844 or 4mealsonwheels@sbcglobal.net.

• Special Olympics needs 10 to 12 volunteers on Nov. 10 to work with children ages 3 to 7 at stations focusing on motor skills. The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the East Heights Early Childhood Family Center, 1430 Haskell Ave. For more information or to volunteer, contact Terri Price at pricet@ksso.org.

• The LINK Café needs 10 volunteers to serve lunch on Oct. 31 to Lawrence’s homeless and low-income population. Volunteers are needed from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen at First Christian Church, 10th and Kentucky streets.
