Top commander cancels visit

? A key military commander was forced by weather to cancel a scheduled appearance in Kansas.

Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart had planned to speak Thursday at Fort Leavenworth’s Army Command and General Staff College. He was scheduled to lecture at the college about interagency cooperation, and to answer questions about plans to vaccinate the military against swine flu.

The Pentagon has bought 2.7 million doses of the vaccine, and 1.4 million of those will go to active duty military. National Guard troops on active duty are also required to receive the vaccine, as are civilian Defense Department employees who are in critical jobs.
