Google fears

To the editor:

In Cal Thomas’ column “Islam infiltrating, deceiving U.S.” (Journal-World, Oct. 1) Thomas suggests that Islam is “putting on a peaceful face while subtly plotting ways to bring America down.”

Thomas cited a rally in Washington, D.C. Some 3,000 Muslims came to pray. Thomas quoted one speaker who said the rally was to “show all Muslims are not terrorists but law-abiding citizens.”

“This is probably true,” wrote Thomas, “but irrelevant since it takes only a small number of terrorists to cause havoc.” Duh. It take only a small number of Wall Street greed mongers or corrupt U.S. politicians to cause havoc, too.

To prove his point that Islam is a menace to America, Thomas invites readers to Google “Islam near” and then type in the name of any city or town. Thomas wrote that he Googled “Islam near Bryn Mawr, Pa.,” and 10 Islamic-related sites came up.

Oh my gosh!

• Googled “Christianity near Bryn Mawr, Pa.,” and 330,000 Christianity-related sites came up.

• Googled “Ben and Jerrys near Bryn Mawr, Pa.,” and 995 ice cream-related sites came up.

• Googled “pig farmers near Bryn Mawr, Pa.,” and 4,750 pig farmer-related sites came up.

Fearful stuff, Mr. Thomas! Thanks awfully for the warning.
