Missouri poet to read at KU

Award-winning poet Kevin Prufer will give a reading at Kansas University on Tuesday. Prufer will read from his recent poetry collection, “National Anthem,” at 7 p.m. in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union. The reading is sponsored by the KU English department. Prufer, who is a creative writing faculty member at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, received a 2008 Notable Book mention by Poetry International for “National Anthem.” His previous books, “Fallen from a Chariot” and “The Finger Bone” each won the Pushcart Prize and the William Rockhill Nelson Award. Prufer is co-editor of the literary journal Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing, associate editor of American Book Review and vice president/secretary of the National Book Critics Circle.
