— Kansas Congressman Dennis Moore says the U.S. economy is not bouncing back as quickly as people would like, but that’s not the reason he’s decided not to seek re-election.

At a news conference Tuesday, the six-term Democrat from Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District said he had planned to serve only 10 years in the U.S. House. He notes he’s now in his 11th year.

Moore denies that health problems or concerns about a tough re-election campaign played any role in his decision.

Moore also says he doesn’t plan to run for a different office, such as governor or U.S. Senate, and instead plans to spend time with his family after he leaves the House in January 2011.

Why deny it for a year and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars if the retirement was planned?

Did not totally rule it out did he? Still say he has/had a shot at the Senate, after Moran and Tiahrt tear each other apart. If Tiahrt won the primary, Moran's moderate voters would be up for grabs. The DNC would hand him over a big check too.
