Lawrence City Commissioner Mike Amyx is recovering at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after undergoing a procedure related to chest pains this morning.
When reached briefly at the hospital, Amyx said he was recovering well and expected to be back to work at the downtown barber shop he owns and to the City Commission in a matter of days.
“You can tell everybody that I’m just fine,” Amyx said.
Amyx, 56, reported having chest pains as he was opening his barber shop at Ninth and Massachusetts early this morning. He then checked himself into the hospital where he began receiving treatment.
