Members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity chapter at Kansas University hope to raise funds to benefit the homeless this weekend.
The second “TKE in a Box” charity event will begin at noon Friday at Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway, and run until noon Sunday.
Chapter members live in a cardboard box home during the 48-hour period to collect canned food items for Lawrence food pantries and accepting monetary donations to benefit the Lawrence Community Shelter.
The chapter participated in the same benefit in April, and members raised more than $500 and collected more than 600 canned food items, said Kris Nielsen, the chapter president.
