Three Lawrence residents sentenced for participating in drug trafficking organization
Three Lawrence residents received various federal prison sentences for participating in a drug trafficking organization in the city, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Ahmad Austin, 29, received a 14-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine, a news release from U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said.
“Austin sold crack to investigators on three occasions in the summer of 2005 during meetings in the parking lot of a Perkins restaurant in Lawrence,” said Jim Cross, U.S. attorney spokesman.
Troy Jarrett, 36, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the same charge. He was arrested twice with crack in 2005, Cross said.
Christina Wilkins, 31, was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing crack cocaine. She sold crack to investigators four times in 2005, the news release said.
Another man, Leland Roebuck, received a 12 1/2 year prison sentence in the case. Seven additional co-defendants have yet to be sentenced.
The drug trafficking organization operated in the Lawrence area between 2000 and 2006, prosecutors said.
