— Thursday afternoon proved to be another emotional one for Dale and Judy Fowler. Multiple sources said Thursday that a body found in the Delaware River was believed to be that of their son, Shawn Fowler, 44. He has been missing since December.

According to Rick Burcham, pastor at Williamstown Assembly of God in Perry, a fisherman found a body floating in the Delaware River south of Fowler’s home just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a body had been found, but positive identification awaits autopsy results.

Burcham said that the body found has black hair and the body was wearing a ring similar to that given in Fowler’s description when he went missing.

The Fowler family gathered with friends Thursday evening again to remember Shawn’s life.

“It’s a very difficult time for us,” said Judy Fowler, Shawn’s mother.

Community members said Thursday that this has been difficult for the Perry community.

“This should give the family and his friends some closure,” said Donna Higgins, and acquaintance of Shawn Fowler.

Fowler went missing Dec. 10 near his home in the 200 block of Fifth Terrace.

"It does give them closure. Now they know for sure what happened,"

What do they know for sure happened? They found his body but do they know what happened? This is sad and I hope they figure it out. My condolences to the family and friends.

K_G: Goes to show what you know about the situation, Two fisherman from our so called "cult" found Shawn's body.(maybe they used their psychic powers to fish and all of a sudden shazam!! They had a revelation and found this young man whose family has missed him so much. Get a life kG, their ain't no haints in Perry. No more weirder people here than what ever hole you crawled out of. Grow up!!! P>S> There ain't nothin wrong with Casey"s either! Just normal people needing a job.Maybe k_G should go visit the Village Witch in North Lawrence and she can consult with you and put your thoughts to rest!

Whatever may have happened Rambo will be missed by everyone. His family is what's important here, just them knowing where he is and they can have him with them. Closure means alot in the end, to his mama, my thoughts are with you in your heart. He was a good friend. He will be sadly missed.

I don't know who this K_G is and could careless but I will say. how dare you leave a nasty comment about the fisherman that found him. errrr. Please leave your nasty comments to your self.

I know the fisherman and I was not slammin them nor was I being nasty, just trying to stick up for our community and tired of evertime someone passes on they have no regard for anyone's feelings. Do you think it sounds natural to talk about cults and stuff? The point is a dear friend is gone and thank God he was found and the family can learn to go on. I know the fisherman, as I said, I bless them and their courage. I'm sure it wasn't a very good feeling to run upon this situation. Since most of you don't realize a pun was intended toward kg, keep your sarcasticness to yourselves too. This is my community and I love it.Like others do.

I think friend73 was knocking K_G, not you gkw. Since no comment shows from K_G, we are all assuming it was he/she who made the nasty comment about the fishernman and did get your meaning.

For the sake of his family, friends and the community, I'm glad his body was found. It would have been much nicer to have found him alive somewhere but at least his family can know now. I can't begin to imagine the nightmare of not knowing if your child is alive or dead.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Fowler. I only hope that this sad news somehow brings closure to them and allows them to eventually begin the healing process.

I wasn't knocking anyone. I do too know the fisherman. 1 is my father inlaw and a good family friend also my son was with them at the time. I am to very thankful that his family can have closure.
