Police seeking suspect in strongarm robbery
Police are seeking a suspect in a strongarm robbery that occurred early Thursday morning.
According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, the suspect is described as a white male, between 6-foot and 6-foot-5, missing some or all of his front teeth, possibly wearing a white T-shirt and possibly with short brown hair.
The robbery took place at approximately 1:15 a.m. in the east alley of the 1100 block of Tennessee Street.
A 22-year-old Lawrence woman was grabbed from behind by a man but managed to wrestle away from him. While escaping the assailant, the woman lost her cell phone and purse. She ran south to a nearby friends’ house and dialed 911.
When police arrived on scene they could not find the woman’s belongings in the alley. The suspect might have doubled back and picked up the items, Bordman said.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Lawrence Police at 832-7501, Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS, or 911.
