Driver in Monday’s rollover crash in serious condition

The driver of a vehicle that rolled multiple times Monday evening on the South Lawrence Trafficway is hospitalized with serious injuries as a result of the crash.

A Kansas Highway Patrol report said the 19-year-old Lawrence man, Adolfo Remigio-Diaz, was traveling east on the Kansas Highway 10 bypass, east of Clinton Parkway, when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled it several times. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels in the north ditch.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also hospitalized after the crash, which occurred around 5 p.m. Monday. Neither was wearing a seat belt, the report said.

Noe Martinez, 16, of Lawrence, was ejected from the 1997 Ford Explorer. Mario Remigio-Diaz, 21, of Lawrence, was sitting in the back of the vehicle.

According to the KHP, both passengers were taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City. On Tuesday, the hospital said they had no information on the patients.

Adolfo Remigio-Diaz, the driver, was in serious condition at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday. The KHP said he was wearing a seatbelt.
