Douglas County prosecutors have refiled charges against an Overland Park man accused of wielding a machete during a February 2008 home invasion and robbery at a Lawrence apartment.

Scott Allen Dean Blackmon, 23, was booked Tuesday into Douglas County Jail and is charged with five charges of kidnapping, four of aggravated robbery and one of aggravated burglary. The suspect had a first appearance in court Wednesday.

The original charges were dismissed against Blackmon in March 2008, after witnesses did not show up to testify at a preliminary hearing.

“We anticipate them to be available for the new preliminary hearing,” said Cheryl Wright, spokeswoman for District Attorney Charles Branson.

Police said five people were ordered to empty their pockets and forced into a bathroom during the Feb. 12, 2008, crime at 1411 W. Seventh St.

Blackmon is being held on $75,000 bond and will return to court Thursday.
