Suspects sought after armed robbery of ice cream truck

Lawrence police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of an ice cream truck. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Lawrence Avenue, according to Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren. John Graham, a driver for Frosty Treats out of Independence, Mo., said he was robbed by two white males around the age of 18.

Graham said the first suspect was thinly built with long, dark brown hair that reached past his shirt collar. He wore silver hoop earrings that stretched his earlobes and a black shirt and shorts. The second suspect had similar hair and stature with a light-colored shirt and what appeared to be a handgun.

The suspects took an undetermined amount of money and fled into the wooded area north of the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Lawrence Avenue. Lawrence and KU police officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects. Anyone with information should call the Lawrence Crime Stoppers hot line at 785-843-TIPS (8477).
