Who are the 3 writers that voted for Mizzou? New QB, new OC & new DC...lost 6 players to the NFL?! First? Really?

So, if this poll is correct, we're one upset away from winning the north, potentially.

After two years of not having to play Texas or Oklahoma it'll be interesting to see just how good the KU football program really is. I'm guessing that this year will be a rude awakening....but basketball season's just around the corner!

kansasvoter, maybe i'm misunderstanding you but we played both of them last year.

i think we can win the north, but also think nebraska should likely be the favorite. here's hoping we can get out to 6-0 and have some momentum for OU. go hawk football (basketball comes later).

kcgregory - You are correct. Last year OU and Texas were both back on the schedule. We get them (and Texas Tech) again this year, and then they both go off again for two years when we pick up OSU, Baylor and A&M.

Winning the North with that brutal South schedule is a very tall order, but not impossible. Right now, I think whoever wins the KU-NU game in Lawrence wins the North.

edjay said a mouthfull with his first six words. Spot on, ed. We've got a tough schedule the way it lays out, but man oh man how cool is it to be able to look forward to KU football these days?!!! Nebraska at home and Colorado on the road I think are the games that will dictate how the season goes. Go Hawks!

Well, I bet we will be a home favorite vs NU. Touch schedule or not, you beat the other five north teams, your in the championship.

"you beat the other five north teams, your in the championship."

Unfortunately, that's not exactly right. For example, if we go 5-0 against the North, but 1-2 or 0-3 against the three South teams, but Nebraska goes 4-1 against the North and 3-0 against the South, Nebraska will be going to the championship game because of a better record (7-1 vs. 6-2 or 5-3). That's why the unbalanced schedule is a bit unfair (especially last year and this year when KU has to play the three heavyweights from the South all in the same year).

These polls are meaningless. The only thing matters is what is on the scoreboard as they are cleaning up the hot dog wrappers and popcorn sacks.

First having Nebraska at home helps remember what the Jayhawks did to the Husker Nation last time at home??? Sure we all do.

Missouri in Kansas City and Oklahoma at home which I am glad we have the Sooners at home and not in KC.

Let play some 2009 College Football....oh if you think about it Kansas if we win the North will most likely play Oklahoma or Texas again in the Big 12 Championship.
