The Centro Hispano Resource Center is seeking volunteers for several events:

A Know Your Rights Forum, addressing rights with police, housing issues and immigration, will be conducted in Spanish at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1234 Ky. Help is needed with child care, food service, setup and cleanup. You do not need to know Spanish to volunteer.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Days. The Centro Hispano and KU’s VITA program are again offering tax preparation services in Spanish. Bilingual volunteers are needed to help and interpret on three Saturday mornings, Feb. 28, March 7 and April 4. Volunteers do not need to commit to all three days.

Tutor K-12 Latino students. Each month we help students connect with tutors/mentors to support them in being successful in school. Volunteers do not have to speak Spanish.

Immediate needs

• Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community is looking to fill the following volunteer positions:

Two people to call bingo once or twice a month on a Saturday;

Two or three people to help with volleyball once or twice a month on a Saturday;

People who would like to help with craft projects or a cooking class, help with manicures on Wednesdays and many other activities, as well as people with musical talents of any kind.

• Lawrence Memorial Hospital is looking for energetic, service-oriented people who are interested in being part of a team of health-care providers.
