Editor’s note: Today’s letters to the editor are from Southwest Junior High students learning about persuasive writing.

To the editor:

Have you ever been behind an unaware, distracted, hazardous, slow or just bad driver? Have you ever been late or in an accident because of this person. I have and I am tired of it, and I am sure you are, too. When I go to Kansas City to do go to sports and such, even though we leave early I am still sometimes late because of numerous slow drivers.

I have seen a hazardous driver hit another car head-on causing it to flip. Luckily the driver of the car didn’t get any serious injuries. Some people say that you can always stop the problem because if you are concerned with slow drivers then you can just leave earlier. Sometimes however you can’t leave early.

I suggest that we make driving tests harder and every five years or so take it again. This will make accidents more avoidable and hopefully because of this fewer deaths will occur. Another thing we can do is to have more cops on the road looking for this behavior. I know I am not the only one who is for this idea so help me by trying to get it as a law.
