Teens need more to do

Editor’s note: Today’s letters to the editor are from Southwest Junior High students learning about persuasive writing.

To the editor:

There is plenty for adults to do in Lawrence, like go to clubs and parties. According to yahootravel.com, the main attractions are all the museums here in Lawrence, and going to Kansas University. When teens want something to do they do not want to go walk around a museum or walk around Kansas University to see some important buildings. There is the choice of walking down Mass Street but most teens will not want to buy clothes three or four times a week.

Most teens would go down there once a week to buy shoes and clothes. Teens get tired of going to the movies because it costs a lot of money to go see a movie three or four times a week. One thing to do is walk to a gas station nearby for sodas. Teens should have more to do. For example more community sports, such as hockey and lacrosse would be good. Another fun thing that would be good in town is mini golf or go-cart tracks. I am hoping that you will think about what I said and construct more for teens to do here in Lawrence.
