Exercise should be a must in everyday life

Editor’s note: Today’s letters to the editor are from Southwest Junior High students learning about persuasive writing.

To the editor:

Burning calories isn’t the only thing exercise is good for. Clinical and Epidemiology studies show that everyday exercise reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. I believe exercise is also a good way to release stress and gain extra energy.

Now here are some good exercise tips to help you get started on your own. For aerobic exercises you should walk or jog for 20 to 30 minutes at a mild rate. You should also have a stretching plan, a warm up to get your blood flowing. You should also have a cool down routine to get your heart rate down. A way to find you max heart rate is to subtract your age from two hundred and twenty. If you walk the proper 20 to 30 minutes you could burn up to three hundred calories a day

For kids there are a variety of activities to participate in at Lawrence Parks and Recreation. For example they have basketball intramurals for girls and boys and volleyball. But only you can eat right and go exercise every day to help you become a healthier person.
