The Lawrence Schools Foundation is looking for nominations for its 2009 Educator of the Year awards.

Both an elementary and a secondary educator will be honored with $1,000 each during the 2009 Foundation Follies. Nominations may be submitted to the foundation office at 110 McDonald Drive by any school district parent, student or employee.

Criteria to be considered include the impact the educator has had on student learning, the educator’s participation in the profession and the educator’s relationship with students’ parents.

Nomination forms are available online at lawrenceschoolsfoundation.org or by contacting LEAP’s programs coordinator, Andrea Moen, at amoen@usd497.org.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Thursday.

I used to work at LHS and there is one person there that goes above and beyond expectations. She is a para-professional in the severe multiple disabilities classroom and spends countless hours off the clock to help these students. Her name is Kate Guard. Please someone nominate her. I would if I still lived/worked in Lawrence.
