Area legislator appointed to two task forces

February 16, 2009

— State Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, has been chosen to serve on two panels of national organizations.

He has been appointed vice chairman of the Council of State Government’s Energy and Policy Task Force.

The task force educates policymakers on water and energy issues.

Sloan also has been appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Military Sustainability Task Force, which examines issues affecting military and community relations, and the health and well-being of veterans.

Serving his eighth term in the House, Sloan is chairman of the Vision 2020 Committee, and a member of the Energy and Utilities Committee and Government Oversight and Efficiency Committee.

They could not have found a better man. Sloan is smart, friendly, and always returns calls from citizens. To me he is an example for all of the other legislators. Try and get a return call from Francisco, or an answer to a letter. I did get an answer after several months. Thank you, Lynn

Sloan is owned, lock, stock and barrel by the energy industry. It's hard to imagine any worse legislator than he as an energy representative for Kansas unless they would go to Melvin Neufeld or the laughably incompetent Larry Powell.
