Republicans to pick new state representative

? Kansas Republicans plan to meet Jan. 5 to pick a replacement for a legislator from the Kansas City area.

Republican state Rep. Terrie Huntington of Fairway is vacating the 25th House District seat to become a state senator.

Huntington is replacing Republican David Wysong of Mission Hills, who resigned from the Senate for family reasons.

Republican precinct committee members in the House district in Johnson County will choose Huntington’s replacement.

Johnson County GOP chairman Ronnie Metsker says that the contest has at least two serious candidates: retired Mission Hills doctor Barbara Bollier and former Roeland Park Mayor Steve Petrehn.
