Suspect in Wednesday night police chase released from Douglas County jail

A 22-year-old Lawrence man accused of leading police on a chase and crashing into a car Wednesday night was released on $2,525 bond Thursday, Douglas County jail records show.

Prosecutors will consider filing formal charges against the man ahead of a Dec. 30 court date set in the case.

Police said they started following the man at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, when the truck he was driving nearly hit another vehicle.

The truck later hit a car near 23rd Street and Barker Avenue, causing minor injuries to one person inside, police said.

The chase, which lasted less than five minutes, ended at 23rd Street and Ponderosa Drive.

Officers arrested the man on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an injury accident, and felony attempt to flee or elude.
