Artists sought for new license plate

Talk about the ultimate traveling art exhibit.

The Kansas Arts Commission is seeking entries for a new Kansas Arts License Plate. The plate, scheduled for production in 2010, will be available for purchase, with funds going to the Kansas Arts Commission.

According to the commission: “The design should reflect and promote a positive image of Kansas and Kansas arts. The images will be used to promote the arts and the Kansas Arts Commission throughout the state and nationwide.”

To be eligible, artists must be at least 10 years old and live in Kansas. Submissions must be postmarked by Oct. 15.

Staff and members of the Kansas Arts Commission will narrow the submissions to five finalists, and Kansans will then be invited to vote for their favorite plate. The winning design will be announced in January.
